Visiting the Transit Center

At 425 Mission Street in San Francisco’s SOMA District. The building covers nearly four city blocks with multiple entrances. It’s bordered by Beale Street, Minna Street, 2nd Street, and Natoma Street.

The main entrance is via Salesforce Plaza at 425 Mission Street at Fremont Street. There are 5 sets of elevators and 1 escalator going from street level to Salesforce park across the four blocks of the Salesforce Transit Center.

Yes, this is a public building and a public park, owned and operated by Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA). Both are open to the public. Salesforce has acquired a 25-year sponsorship for naming and signage rights.

The facility is open while the buses operate and closed for only a few hours overnight. The Level 3 Bus Deck operates from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The park is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. May through October and closes at 8 p.m. November through April.

Transit Operations

AC Transit, Greyhound, Muni 25-Treasure Island, and WestCAT operate from the Level 3 Bus Deck.

SFMTA/Muni and Golden Gate Transit lines operate from the street level bus plaza off Fremont between Minna and Natoma streets.

SF Paratransit pick-up and drop-off are on Natoma Street between First and Fremont streets.

The Embarcadero and Montgomery BART stations are located nearby on Market Street, one block north of the Transit Center.

No. However, Samtrans http://www.samtrans.com and BART offer direct service to San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport. See http://www.bart.gov.

No luggage storage is available. Bike racks are located around the Transit Center’s perimeter. Bike lockers and city bike share hire are found at Natoma Pedestrian Way near 2nd Street.

There are restrooms located in the Salesforce Park and on the level three Bus Deck.

Bikes are not permitted in the Grand Hall or in the Park. Bus passengers travelling with a bicycle should exit/enter the Bus Deck by taking an elevator or designated staircase. See Bike Rules and Regulations here.

Yes. Follow these steps:

  1. Connect to the “TransbayWiFi” wireless network
  2. Open your web browser and click on “Accept” on the Acceptable Use Policy after reading it and scrolling to the bottom (as shown in the screen shot below)
  3. Browse the Internet at your leisure

A guide dog, signal dog, or other animal specifically trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability is permitted to accompany that individual to areas of the facility where customers are normally allowed to go. Only service animals are permitted in the Park.

No alcoholic beverages of any kind are allowed in the Park other than those consumed on the premises at a restaurant or café or another business granted special permission by TJPA.


No. Children must be accompanied at all times and no adults are allowed in the children’s play area of the Park except when accompanying a child.

The climbing structure in the park is meant for the enjoyment of children visiting the park. Adults that are not accompanied by a child are not permitted in the children’s play area.

The rooftop park is open to the public. It is available for private event rental for groups of 25 people or more and requires a permit or reservation. For non-commercial groups of less than 25 people, a permit or reservation is not required. Please email info@tjpa.org for more information.

Yes, prepared food and non-alcoholic beverages may be brought to the Park, including food and beverages available from vendors in and around the Transit Center. Alcoholic beverages must be purchased on site and consumed in designated café and restaurant areas only. Barbecue, grills, and open flames are not allowed without a permit.

No. There is seating available in the park.
