Please join San Mateo County Supervisor and Chairman of the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) Board Jerry Hill and members of the TJPA to learn more about the plans underway to build the new Transbay Transit Center in downtown San Francisco. The new Transit Center will serve Caltrain and connect passengers from the Peninsula to the heart of the Financial District.
The new Transit Center will replace the current Transbay bus terminal at First and Mission streets in downtown San Francisco with a Grand Central Station of the West. The project will:
- Create a central downtown Transit Center that will connect the San Francisco Bay Area and the State through nine transit systems: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Greyhound, MUNI (including paratransit for seniors and the disabled), SamTrans, WestCAT and future High-Speed Rail
- Provide transportation links from San Mateo to six Northern California counties including San Francisco, Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda
- Accommodate the future High-Speed Rail line, which will allow travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles in under two and a half hours and provide seamless connections between all of Northern California and San Diego, Sacramento and the Central Valley
- Remove more than 8,000 daily auto trips from the Peninsula Corridor roadways, reducing traffic congestion on Highway 101 and I-280
