The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Credit Council unanimously recommended approval of a $171 million Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan on September 17, 2009. This recommendation will be forwarded to USDOT Secretary Ray LaHood for approval.

On December 13, 2007, the California Transportation Commission (CTC) voted to authorize the transfer of 19 acres of state-owned land to the TJPA and the City and County of San Francisco. The parcels are integral to the replacement of the Transbay Terminal and redevelopment of the surrounding neighborhood.
